This is an early post because we have specific hours Friday (10/2). We will be open 5:30am-9am and Slater will be hosting a class at 6pm-7pm. Slater will also be hosting a WOD Saturday morning at 9am.
Sorry about the late notice but it’s been a busy week. Hopefully this makes up for it.
Since www.CrossFit.com is a rest day this is what I’ve got…
Classes
Team WOD- for time
20 tire flips
30 squats with sandbag (weight depends on ability)
40 burpees
50 push ups
60 knees to elbows
70 sit ups
80 thrusters (with bar)
650m farmers walk and sandbag carry (one person carries dumbbells, other carries sandbag, switch if needed)
or if you can’t make it to the gym
At Home WOD
5 rounds
20 feet to hand ( push up position, left foot to left hand, then right to right, do a push up inbetween the switch)
20 squats
20 sit ups
* for the warm up I want 3 rounds- 10 push ups, 10 sit ups, 10 squats
Stretch afterwards because you know I’ll notice the difference on Monday!
wait, you mean that it is closed in the afternoon too? i had to take granny to the doc in lexington so i figured an off day today no big deal…….. what the hell am i supposed to do all day tomorrow?!
Hey there, well I’d love to say that I could top yesterdays post, but to be honest I can’t…that was inspired, and this morning I am, well just tired!
One thing I did yesterday, that I can’t ever do again is check the WOD at night for the next day.
WHAT I READ: Since http://www.CrossFit.com is a rest day this is what I’ve got…
To see the words “…REST DAY…” (Yea!) , followed by the words “…this is what I got…” (Aww) I realized that:
A: I need to eat more protein and have some peanut butter before I head to the gym tomorrow.
B. Ben’s definition of the word ‘Rest’ and mine are about as far apart as Rosie O’Donnell and a weight watchers meeting. Now I highly doubt he meant to use the intransitive verb version (“…to depend on somebody or something for action [sic]. ) but I’ll give him credit (who am I kidding, somehow I think the concept of intransitive verbs escapes him…c’mon, I love they guy but seriously…how many of YOU know what an intransitive verb is…GET OFF GOOGLE! ) and ASSUMING he knew it, then the WOD made sense (after all TEAM WOD’s do ‘rest’ on the ability of everyone at the class to take part and share the burden, I mean, carry the load) and I couldn’t afford to let D, or M or anyone else who showed up suffer alone without a partner.
C. I was going to be very sore at work sitting through budget meetings today
D. Rethought B above again and thought …mumble mumble…Jackass…
E. I couldn’t remember who Slater was to see if I could slack on that guy without getting called out…
F. I could work out at home, but then I’d be in the basement with $200.00 worth of P90X bullshit that I didn’t do because it sucks and because I am making some Beer for Thanksgiving and wine for next summer and I would easily be distracted into ‘racking them before I go to work because when you rack them they…SHIT, it distracted me and I am just typing…so it was a bad Idea- I gotta go to the gym.
So I took a hit (or 3) of children’s Grape Nyquil ( I was out of Jaeger and it comes with it’s own shot glass) DRV’d “Private Practice” (don’t anyone tell me what happened to Violet…well, OK is the baby ok? Just tell me that one thing on the white board in the back- yes or no… that one thing…) and crashed.
Then I had a dream. About DCCF. I am not making this up – I swear on my children’s eyes (it is an Italian Catholic saying). I was doing squats and the place was full and I swear on the soul of my mother (see last remark) it wasn’t a nightmare (I have since sworn off Nyquil) then I woke to my alarm going off…and the rain outside.
Like you this morning, I lay in bed, listening to the rain and thought, aaahhhh…no way we’ll be outside this morning…shit burpees instead!
Got up, got dressed, got coffee and got to DCCF when I saw the gate closed and the lights out, as I rounded the corner and saw neither Toyota parked outside…the most incredible feeling came over my tired quads, and tight hip flexors and it went a little something like this:

I get to Rest today!
But my gleefulness was short lived, because someone was parked outside (Slater?) so I sat an waited a few minutes half hoping no one would show, talking to two others who also were there (one male, one female- they will remain nameless so ALL of you can claim you came in next time you see Slater or Ben to bust their balls err… ovaries) before I had to head back to the house by way of a coffee shop. A Rest day indeed!

NOTE: For the record, I didn’t go to the Basement, I went to the back enclosed porch and began the alt WOD only to be scared half to death when my youngest thought it would be fun to sneak up on me and jump on my back during my 3rd round of feet to hands. Love / hate doesn’t begin to describe my love for this child- she actually did most of the workout with me twisting her tiny elastic body mimicking me in her Joe Jonas Flannel PJ’s sipping from her ‘water bottle’ trying to be encouraging “Dad-dy, You said your foot had to be near your hand and it is no where near it…watch me” then she proceeded to execute a friggen split, and I quit right then (cuz I can’t top that) and made her pancakes. Beaten by my 1st Grader… she deserved an award.
I told myself that I will be there for the 6 PM class to make up for it.
Thank you Slater/Ben for not showing and giving me some quality time with my lil one…

Ed, this is rich…once again.
And to think, Quinn almost guilted me into getting up to work out this morning, even though he knows I’m old and that Friday’s are 15-17 hours long for me…I’m sooo glad I overcame the guilt and caught two extra hours of sleep.
solo’d the WOD. Felt really good this morning.

Didn’t realize I was responsible for opening the gym at 4p… just thought I was teaching the class at 6p… oops. Sorry to anyone who came early. But, in fairness, you wouldn’t have liked what I was in the mood for anyway.
Modified “The Chief”
5 Rounds
AMRAP in 3 Min of:
3 x Snatch 95lbs
6 x Pushups
9 x Squats
Rest 1 min after each 3 min round.
21 cycles
Took 7 people through the regular Chief… lots of pain… lots of it.
Slater:
You suck.
My legs won’t move when I need them to. I have to tell them to step, and I may never sit down today- thank goodness for out high kitchen table and chairs.
While contemplating the task of walking downstairs this morning, I almost grabbed the bathroom rug and slid down them like a 4yr old. I considered the banister, but I wasn’t convinced that i could get my leg up high enough to get it over.
For the first time in a long time, I had to stretch before taking the steps down.
This was made worse by the fact that my youngest dayghter ‘lapped me’ on my way down…
Shoulda never done a 2 a day…. to think I ws looking FORWARD to flipping tires and carrying stuff, just not doing squats and cleans…
thank you for keeping me off balance and on target.
